Gratus designer Tiffany has Celiac Disease. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that affects the entire body by attacking the small intestine whenever gluten is ingested. By attacking the small intestine, the person is unable to absorb vitamins and nutrients, and suffers from malnutrition, even though they may look and feel fine. They may suffer from headaches, stomach aches, bowel problems, indegestion, fatigue, and many other symptoms, or may be asymptomatic, meaning they have no symptoms at all. Celiac disease is believed to be as high as 1 in 100 people. Testing is very simple, a blood test at your doctors office, or through outside labs like EnteroLab in Dallas, TX.
Diagnosis with Celiac disease changed Tiffany's life, in fact, it was her illness that inspired her to create the first "Health Journal" that aided in her diagnosis. Because of her ties to the Celiac Community, Gratus Journals is a sponsor of the Got Guts 5k race in Austin, TX. Please visit their website: www.GotGuts5k.com
